Bleak in its view of the world; perhaps Haggard's reaction to the World War. This is a Very Good copy of the First American Edition. Red ribbed cloth binding, ruled and stamped with title and decoration on the front cover; gilt titling on the spine. Clean text; vi, 407 pages. Very bright and unfoxed. Colour frontis illustration by Enos B. Comstock; black and white plates between pages 174-75. Mild rubbing; spine slightly darkened; small spot on fore-edge. A solid copy. No dustjacket; inan archival plastic protector.. First American Edition.. Hard Cover. Very Good/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
