About This Item
Linda Wriggleworth Ltd., London, 1997 Book. Good. Soft cover. English text; 18.5 x 18.8 cm; 0.495 Kg; 59 loose leaf cards with: text by Linda Wrigglesworth; and 46 colour plates, each with caption and text; Asian textile dealer catalogue; Used with signs of wear. The outside edges are slightly bent. The cards are good condition.; I have been struck by the rarity of these textiles, sourcing most of my pieces in Korea (.). Korea, like Japan, was a very closed society and pieces were never brought out of Korea by Western travellers in the same quantities as they were from China. Korean textiles also had a great sentimental value, being treasured by the families who owned them. I (.) am delighted to have found as my other source, Myrna Myers of Paris who with her husband Sam have collected Korean textiles for many years. Their collection is proudly part of this exhibition. Korean costume and textiles are a subject worthy of recognition in the worlds collection today. Rank badges are almost impossible to find, costumes even more so. Our collection of badges is indeed one of the largest on the open market. excerpt from the text accompanying the catalogue by Linda Wrigglesworth..
