New York: Farrar & Rinehart, 1940. First Edition. A Nero Wolfe Mystery. Signed and inscribed by Rex Stout to his biographer and close friend, John McAleer. Inscribed on the half-title: “For John, All the best, Rex, September 22, 1973.” With John McAleer’s handsigned bookplate on the front pastedown. Near fine clean copy in an excellent facsimile dust jacket. McAleer’s massive biography of Rex Stout appeared in 1977.
