This is a near fine (almost like new) hardcover with dust jacket. 1987 Doubleday Publishing and includes a laid-in signed bookplate from editor Stuart David Schiff. This copy is still crisp and clean inside and out. The pages are still crisp and clean with no markings seen. The binding is tight and straight. The laid-in signed bookplate is not attached, just laid in on title page. The binding is tight and straight. Tan hardcover boards under jacket are also near fine. The dust jacket is clean and still shiny with only a hint of shelf wear. Slightly smaller size, crown octavo book size or 5.5" x 8.5" with 181 pages.
Whispers edited by Stuart David Schiff was originally published as a magazine in the 1970's. It was a sort of attempt to revive the legendary Weird Tales in some way. It was a showcase for fantasy fiction with fine illustrations. Some o the best writers were featured including Robert Bloch, Ramsey Campbell and more. Beginning in 1978 it morphed into anthologies published in hardcovers by Doubleday.
Whispers Vl edited by Stuart David Schiff contains 15 short stories from authors such as Charles L. Grant, David Drake, David J. Schow, Manly Wade Wellman and more. This edition was not illustrated.
