Boston: Ticknor and Fields, 1857. Author's Edition. Hardcover. Good. 12mos. 4 volumes. Volume I: [2], 118 pages, [2]. Volume II: [2], pages 119-232, [2]. Volume III: [2], pages 233-418, [3]. Volume IV: [2], pages 419-586, [2]. Blue-green marbled paper covered boards with leather corners and spines. Leather title labels on the spines. One title page printed for the 4 continuos paginated volumes. Leather is rubbed and lightly scuffed on the spines and corners. Some of the end sheets are creased. Pages 131-134 in volume 2 are loose. Interior contents are very clean. Former owner signature of "Anna Dresel" on the right front flyleaf of volume 1. Anna Loring (Dresel), 1830-1896, was the daughter of Ellis Gray Loring, 1803-1868, a New England Abolitionist and co-founder of the New England Anti-Slavery Society. Anna Loring married pianist and American composer Otto Dresel (1826-1890).
