With thirteen additional Rideout illustrations on coated paper, appendix and index. Dark blue cloth, titles and decorative rules stamped in gilt on the cover and spine, photo illustrated endpapers, fore edge untrimmed. Minimal toning to edges, contemporary San Francisco owner's address label on the front free endpaper. In the three color illustrated dust jacket: numerous closed tears and chips with aged cellophane tape reinforcements, edges rubbed and darkened, spine color unfaded. Story of the colorful banker and developer William Chapman Ralston. While the dust jacket is in rough repair, its mere existence is uncommon.Jacket preserved in a removable clear archival sleeve.
