Hardback very small, no jacket as issued, very good condition, blue cloth pictorial cover, colour frontispiece, endpapers toned, cover corners lightly bumped, minor edgewear. 63 pp. A novel for young adults. Young Jack is injured while helping his father at work on the railways, and later is disobedient to his family during his recovery. Darley Dale is a pen-name for Francesca Maria Steele, who previously wrote “Seven Sons," "Spoilt Guy," "The Family Failing," &c. The decorative heritage cover shows a girl clutching an umbrella and a dog. (No date, but 1885, British Library catalogue.)
