William Lloyd Garrison, most famous as an abolitionist orator, writer, and publisher of The Liberator newspaper, had also been an ardent supporter of women's rights and suffrage since the 1830s. Much like the rhetoric used when calling for the end of slavery, Garrison writes that "the dangers of the country are not from outside attack, but from social wrongs within" and closes by stating: "The true advancement of common interest waits for he active and responsible participation of women in political matters." An enduring essay, that shows the significance of Garrison's legacy in both abolitionism and early women's rights, printed twenty-one years after the author's death. Handling creases. Light toning to first and last page. Light scattered stains along outer edge and on page 1, especially top and bottom edges. Stain in top right corner penetrates all pages. Very good.
