Morris was a famous textile designer, poet and artist, associated with the British Arts and Crafts Movement. He played a major part in the revival of traditional British textile arts and methods of production. He is now recognised as one of the most significant cultural figures of Victorian Britain, best known in his lifetime as a poet but posthumously became better known for his designs.The present group is comprised of:A Brooklyn Museum 2007 calendar featuring stunning designs from the art of William Morris in colour. Illustrated catalogue of an exhibition organised by the William Morris Society and the Society of Designer Craftsmen in occasion to the centenary of William Morris's death. The first edition (1996)Celebrative booklet of the 150th anniversary of the birth of William Morris, concerned with socialism and Marxist. With illustrations in black and whit in text. The first edition, written by Roger Simon. A Communist Party publication (1984)Portfolio containing a series of facsimiles of two letters to friends, the draft of 'Unjust War' sent to the printed, and the portrait by George Howard. In memory of the artist, published in a first edition of five hundred copies on the 150th anniversary of his birth (1984). A very scarce publication, rarely seen in commerce. In the original publisher's printed wraps or portfolio. Externally lovely. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean. Fine
