Thick octavo, xviii pages, 421 pages; VG-/G+; white spine with gold gilt lettering; white cloth dust jacket; marked shelfwear and rubbing to the jacket; significant soiling to the jacket, particularly to the spine and the fore edges of the front and back jacket flaps; top and bottom edges of the jacket are fraying; multiple minor stains to the front and back of DJ; creasing to the jacket at the head and tail of the spine; minor open tears to the "THE MACMILLAN COMPANY" logo at the tail of the spine; marked creasing and fraying to the corners of the jacket flaps; spine is slightly cocked; marked bumping to the corners of the boards; top edge of the text block is gilt; fore and bottom edges of the text block are deckled; minor soiling to the text block edges; significant rubbing and soiling to the bottom edges of the boards; gutter is split and webbing is visible between front and back paste downs and endpapers; bookplate of previous owner to the front paste down; rubbing from bookplate to ffep; marked age-toning and soiling to front and back paste downs and free endpapers; marked creasing to ffep; inked by previous owner on verso ffep; signed flat by Mabie on verso half-title; minor soiling and age-toning to the pages; minor foxing/spotting to the pages, particularly tissue guards and their immediately following pages throughout the text block (title page, 32, 46, 90, 172, 256, 286, 316, 348); gutter split and webbing visible between pages 48 & 49 and 128 & 129); fore edges unopened every few pages from 329-368; shelved Above Shakespeare. 1357506.
