About This Item
1938. Soft cover. Good. The interior of the magazine is clean and tight, with bright paper. Sadly, there is a short edge-tear, starting on the front cover at about 1/3 inch, and decreasing slowly over the first 30 pages, where it sidappears. iThe illustrated paper covers are bright, with light reading wear and the tear mentioned above. The attached scan a better idea of the appearance of the front cover. Synopsis: Each monthly issue contains a mix of short stories (mostly mystery and adventure), verse, and current affairs, with many attractive vintage illustrations. Partial contents: -- The leadsman: a tale of the N.I.D, by Sea-Wrack; - The moon without sixpence, by John Hastings Turner; -- The crucifix, by Horace Annesley Vachell; -- The Minister for War: the Right Hon. Leslie Hore-Belisha, by Walter T. Roberts; -- The man in the spare room, by Richard Wylde; -- The epitaph, by E. H. Clements; -- A stroke of business, by L.A.G. Strong; -- Mr. Moorswan fights a duel, by Douglas Compton-James; -- Spun yarn, by Dprptju Black; -- A square deal, by Ashley Wood
