minor bump on front board; else "Fine". Very clean binding, very straight AND also still very tight. Internals clean. Unclipped wrapper has a 30 mm closed tear to upper reverse which appears to be professionally repaired. And most unfortunate indeed is a an old moisture stain which involves the lower front and extending along the lower edge to reverse. (See image please)NB: though the copyright is 1962, there is an ISBN printed on the copyright page which means this copy cannot be any older than 1972- the year that ISBNs were first implemented & used. For prospective buyers, and from my best understanding, there is no 1962 First Edition for the domestic market- rather only the 1968 with a two tone blue & green binding whereas mine is full green and is therefore a later printing.

Lethbridge (1901-1971) was an English archaeologist, parapsychologist, and explorer. He championed Margaret Murray's witch-cult theory. The timing of his work suggests that "Witches" contributed to the revival and establishment of Gardnerian Wicca. From the cover "The Investigation of an Ancient Religion involving the Worship of Diana -- The Witch Cult -- laying as much stress on the consorts of the Goddess as on the Lady Herself".
