Witchfinder General: Death Penalty (Vintage iron-on patch) by [Joanne Latham] - 1980s

Vintage iron-on patch for the 1982 Witchfinder General debut studio album, "Death Penalty," featuring artwork from the album sleeve, a somewhat scandalous image of a scorned woman being assaulted by hooded figures in a cemetery. The hooded figures are members of the band, a British heavy metal outfit, and the woman is British model Joanne Latham, who also graces the band's second album artwork. The photograph was taken at St. Mary the Blessed Virgin Church in Enville, Staffordshire, England, without permission of the local authorities. A dancer before her first professional nude photos were appropriated by Guccione at Penthouse (1979), Joanne's often beguiling icy gaze & unquestionable lush dimensions appear on vinyl LP album sleeves, paperbacks, magazines, even VHS slipcases for adult films (she never appeared in any). Magazine covers include Game, Partner, Mayfair, Response, Oui Letters, Pillow Talk, Family Letters, & international titles produced in France, Germany, Spain. The drug-fueled lyrics and doom-laden feel of the album couples nicely with Latham's equally alluring presence, and both capture early 1980s esthetic.
