Seagoing fiction set aboard the luxury liner, Holland's "Syngdam", heading toward New York. Passengers are a range of characters, all victims of World War II, and enjoying the high life at sea, till fears of German U-Boats riddle the atmosphere as Holland enters the war. They know that once in New York, for many, their lifestyles will center at tenements.
