Not to be confused with any later reprints, including the one from Atheneum after it purchased Parnassus. Illustrations and maps by Ruth Robbins. Per Currey's bibliography (Science Fiction and Fantasy Authors), the Parnassus true first edition was issued in three printings. The first printing is distinguished by (among other points) a thin linear smudge to the title page, which this copy does not have. Also per Currey, the Parnassus 2nd and 3rd printings are indistinguishable from one another. There is no statement of printing, nor any other clues to tell them apart or establish priority. Thus, the book at hand is best described as the Parnassus first edition 2nd/3rd printing. The book is in Fine condition, with full bound green cloth boards, design printed (NOT embossed) in black to front board, and lettering in black to front board and spine. Rear board has no decoration or lettering. Dust jacket is in Good condition, with heavy sunning to the spine, crinkling to head and heel of spine, and upper right corner of front flap is clipped. Front and rear dust jacket panels are clean and bright, with the lovely Ruth Robbins illustrations.
