New York: J. B. Ford and Company, 1873. Hardcover. g. 4to. Three-quarter gilt-decorated leather and spine over brown cloth. Raised bands. Wear to parts of leather and spine. Scuffing and some staining to boards. All gilt edges. Gutters have been expertly reinforced with binders tape at front-and rear endpapers. Ex-libris of Rabbi Edgar F. Magnin of Hebrew Union College to inside of front board. Marbled endpapers. Frontispiece missing. Tissue-guard on title-page torn. Perforated library stamp on margin of title-page. Few pages and plates loose but complete. Usual age browning to pages. "Illustrated with twenty-five Chromo-Lithographs after paintings by Raphael, Batoni, Horace Vernet, Goodall, Landelle, Portaels, Vernet-Lecomte, Baader, Merle, and Boulanger and others; printed by Monroco from Stones executed by Jehenne, Paris." Stunning color lithographs. The author is best known for her masterpiece "Uncle Tom's Cabin". Overall good condition.
