About This Item
First printing. Light creasing to the top and bottom edges of the spine. Page edges lightly age tanned. Unclipped DJ has light creasing to the top of the front cover, spine and back cover. The top edges of the DJ are lightly yellowed. Internally the pages are lightly age tanned but are otherwise clean and tight. Previous owner inscription and ownership plate to front endpaper. After the great victory in the famous tank battle at Cambrai in 1917 the church bells, having been silent for three years, rang out joyously all over Britain. But within ten days triumph had turned to disaster. How did this happen and why? William Moore, a distinguished First World War historian, attempts to explain what went wrong.
