Finely printed broadside of the oldest dated woodcut, St. Christopher (1423) from the Laus Virginia manuscript at the Rylands Library. Shaver explains:
"Note the distinction between a wood cut and a wood engraving. A wood cut is cut against the length of the grain while the engraving is cut against the end of the grain."
A beautiful and scarce ephemeral piece from the master printer at the Yellow Barn Press. .
