An 8-volume set of the principal works of the English author Daniel Defoe (c.1660-1731), perhaps best known for his "Robinson Crusoe" series of novels. In publisher's "Edition de Luxe" and limited to "One Thousand Numbered Sets" of which this set is un-numbered. Six volumes bear 1903 date, two are dated 1904. --- Summary of Contents, Vol. I: "The Life and Strange Adventures of Robinson Crusoe" (346 pgs.); "The Farther Adventures of Robinson Crusoe" (323 p.); Vol. II: "Serious Reflections During the Life and Strange Adventures of Robinson Crusoe" (340 p.) & "The Life and Surprising Adventures of Mr. Duncan Campbell (316 p.); Vol. III: "Memoirs of a Cavalier" (357 p.) & "The Life, Adventures and Piracies of Captain Singleton" (371 p.).; Vol. IV: "The Fortunes and Misfortunes of the Famous Moll Flanders" (Parts I & II, 272, 281 p.); Vol. V: "A Journal of the Plague Year" (304 p.) & "A New Voyage Round the World by a Course Never Sailed Before" (376 p.); Vol. VI: "The History and Remarkable Life of the Truly Honorable Colonel Jacque, Commonly Called Colonel Jack" (Parts I & II, 266, 305 p.); Vol. VII: "The Life of Roxana" (Parts I & II, 286, 300 p.) and Vol. VIII: "The King of Pirates" and "Captain Avery with Lives of Other Pirates and Robbers" (381 p.) --- Volumes in matching bindings: green cloth-covered boards, top edges gilt. Each volume consists of two parts, with captioned tissue-protected, frontis illustration at each part. Titling on paper spine labels. --- Spine labels are very faded, making reading difficult. Cloth is somewhat mottled, with whitish specks on many locations. Interiors are clean and unmarked but many pages are unopened, bindings are tight.; 8vo 8" - 9" tall .
