London: John Murray, 1854. Edited by Peter Cunningham. In four volumes, totalling approximately 2,400 pages (including a 24 page publisher's catalogue at the end of Volume II and a 32 page catalogue at the end of Volume IV), with engraved vignette title page each volume, plus an engraved frontispiece with tissue guard to Volume IV, notes and corrections, index; navy cloth, spines lettered in gilt, boards lettered and decorated in blind, edges slightly rubbed, corners lightly worn, a few tiny splits or chips to spine extremities; uncut, occasionally partly unopened; bookseller's sticker at foot of upper pastedowns, hinges starting at a couple of points, a few small edge chips or splits, some foxing and occasional slight soiling; John Murray, London, 1854. Later printing? Murray's British Classics series. *The title pages are dated 1854, but the advertisements are dated 1883 and 1884. 'This edition of Goldsmith's Works not only contains more pieces than any other, but is also the first in which his works appear together exactly as their author left them' [Preface].
