About This Item
PHILADELPHIA: J.B. Lippincott Company, 1902 BEAUTIFUL DARK RED COVER, GOLD PRINT AND DESIGN SPINE. CLEAN AND TIGHT WITH NO INTERNAL MARKINGS, THICK PAGES, COLORFUL ARTWORK ON TITLE PAGE. NO DATE LISTED, CIRCA EARLY 1900. TWO COLOR PLATES INSIDE. Henry V is a history play by William Shakespeare, believed to have been written near 1599. It tells the story of King Henry V of England, focusing on events immediately before and after the Battle of Agincourt (1415) during the Hundred Years' War. In the First Quarto text, it was entitled The Cronicle History of Henry the fift, Henry VIII is a collaborative history play, written by William Shakespeare and John Fletcher, based on the life of King Henry VIII of England. An alternative title, All Is True, is recorded in contemporary documents, the title Henry VIII not appearing until the play's publication in the First Folio of 1623. Stylistic evidence indicates that individual scenes were written by either Shakespeare or his collaborator and successor, John Fletcher. ANTIQUE BOOKS DEN, WHERE INTERESTING BOOKS LIVE.
