About This Item

No date. Covers the period up to Dec 13th 1918 and includes lists of Casualties and Expenses, obviously compiled some time after the War ended. H G Wells and the Editor write of looking back "twenty years", which puts the publication date around 1936 for this compilation of 120 "Chapters" in total (55 "Chapters" in Vol One). The handsome embossed binding, which is Very Rare, indicates that it was from the publisher. Originally issued apparently in 55 parts (with continuous paging) from Nov. 8th, 1934-Nov. 21st, 1935. Both vols : The spines, which were scuffed, have been touched up and strengthened. Repaired inside channels; scuffed heads and tails which have been strengthened inside the Oxford channels. The preliminary pages including the Chapter headings were on inferior paper and are well tanned. All other pages are only slightly yellowed. Vol One has water staining through much of the lower page margins, not affecting the text. Vol Two likewise, but much less and confined to the lower margin in the folds. Throughout the text the very numerous b&w photos are of good quality, many are of Prussian, Austrian and German troops in action; many full p sepia photographs. Please expect much extra postage - combined weight 5 kgs. Could be as much as US$ 180 to USA , rather less to UK.

Terms of Sale

BOOKLOVERS PARADISE

30 day return guarantee, with full refund including original shipping costs for up to 30 days after delivery if an item arrives misdescribed or damaged. Please note we require a contact number and a physical address for delivery.
You will find the LOCATION of our Bookstore on Google. ALL our books are thoroughly cleaned. All books with dust jackets/ wraps are completely covered in 50 or 75 micron High Density PolyEthylene (= "plastic" = archival acetate film), as are books without dust jackets costing more than US$20. Soft-covers and hard-covers without Dj s are covered in adhesive plastic. While we have neither insects nor dampness in our shop, you might find that the total plastic cover keeps both at bay. Covering the whole book means that the common edge-wear described by so many dealers is mostly absent in our books. Any "plastic" is easily removable, it is not adhered to the book nor to the dust jacket. We do not use sellotape nor any other tape which discolours. We restore books where necessary and describe ONLY EXCEPTIONS to a perfect state. Faults in expensive books are described in huge detail. WHEN RESTORED the majority of "faults'' are visible only with great difficulty and certainly NOT in an image. To avoid misleading you we include few images. Please be guided by the very full descriptions. If no faults are described in a cheaper book, please be guided by the Condition. RESTORATION SERVICE. We restore any book younger than 1800 making your grotty, broken old books look like beautifully-cared-for precious old books. DUST JACKETS IN FACSIMILE. We provide colour copies of any DJ in our stock. Please ask for quotes, images & descriptions. We pride ourselves that THIS IS A VERY SPECIAL BOOKSH0P:- THE CROSSROADS OF CIVILIZATIONS PAST; REFUGE OF ALL THE ARTS AGAINST THE RAVAGES OF TIME; AN ARMOURY OF FEARLESS TRUTH AGAINST WHISPERING RUMOUR; INCESSANT TRIUMPH OF THE RIGHT-TO-KNOW.
