Cassell and Co Ltd, London, 1953. First Edition. Hardcover (Original Cloth). Good Condition/No Dust Jacket. Preface by author and index. Black and white photographic frontispiece. Illustrated hardcover with gilt coloured titles to the front panel and back strip. Dark red coloured tint to the top text edge. Illustrated dustwrapper (same illustration as the underlying boards) with green coloured titles to the front panel and back strip. An important literary figure's autobiography. Softening and rubbing of the back strip edges with rubbing and bumping of the book corners. A little rubbing of the book edges with faint sunning to the back strip. Age toning and foxing to the text block edges with lighter age toning of the pages and the occasional foxing spots. There is considerable foxing to the first few and last few pages of the book. Chipping of the dustwrapper corners and to the back strip edges. Rubbing up along the dustwrapper edges and less rubbing of the panels. There is a 1.25 "tear to the lower left hand corner of the back strip; and the rear fold over crease has a 2.25 "tear to the lower edge, and, a 1.5 "tear to the top edge. First Edition Thus.
