About This Item
Portland, OR: Metropolitan Press, 1961. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good-/Good+. Cloth in DJ; 232pp; DJ age-toned, chipped & protected by mylar sleeve, round black sticker to front flap of DJ, boards age-toned, text unmarked, binding is sound, VG-/Good+ condition. Unusual vanity press offering in the form of a science fiction story set in Hawaii. From DJ flap: "The production of 'The World Around Us' has been the result of this fact: the effectiveness of mathematical induction in arriving at the proof of formulae has led to the same method in the field of physics and astronomy, which are largely mathematical in all their phases. The few mathematical formulae used in this book are all the creation of the author and are capable of proof... Light echoes, anomalies of space, and phantom stars, and all the other weird occurrences described herein are all as real and true as the anomalies of gravitation recorded at different places on Earth." Illustrated with photos.
