William Heinemann LTD, 1949. First Edition. Hardcover. Near Fine/Good. The dust jacket is slightly edge worn, with a closed tear at the back and small chips on the top and bottom edges of the spine but is handsomely preserved in cellophane. The boards are still beautifully preserved with slight edge wear. The front end page is signed by South African writer Arthur Markowitz. The front and back end pages are slightly tanned, but the rest of the pages are crisp and legible with secure binding. ak. Our orders are shipped using tracked courier delivery services.

Synopsis

W. Somerset Maugham was one of the twentieth century's most popular novelists, as well as a celebrated playwright, critic, and short story writer. He was born in Paris but grew up in England and served as secret agent for the British during World War I. He wrote many novels, including the classics Of Human Bondage , The Razor's Edge , Cakes and Ale , Christmas Holiday , Moon and Sixpence , Theatre , and Up at the Villa .
