A first edition copy of O'Donnell's novel The Xanadu Talisman, featuring Modesty Blaise A first edition copy of the tenth novel to feature Modesty Blaise, 'The Xanadu Talisman', by Peter O'Donnell. With puzzles to solve, and a criminal nanny, as with all of the Blaise series, this novel is full of action and adventure. Debuting in the Evening Standard in 1963 Modesty Blaise was originally a comic strip, written by O'Donnell and illustrated by Jim Holdaway. Modest Blaise is a talented young woman, with a criminal past, who ends up on a series of action filled adventures with her sidekick Willie Garvin. Aside from the comic strip, Blaise featured in a total of eleven novels and two short story collections. Peter O'Donnell was a British writer of mysteries and comic strips. Though best known for his Modesty Blaise series, he was also a award winning gothic romance novelist, writing under the pseudonym Madeleine Brent. In original cloth binding held in an unclipped dustwrapper. Minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine, with a slight crease to the spine. Slight bumping also to the extremities. Some spotting to the front and rear endpapers and pastedowns, with some light spotting to the front endpaper. The dustwrapper is very smart, with some minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine. Slight sunning to the spine.Slight spotting to the front flyleaf. A small amount of offsetting internally to the wrap, with some slight spotting to the spine. Internally, firmly bound.
