Hardback. 19th century half calf; marbled boards. Worn but strong and sound. Raised bands plain spine. Paper good, but mildly stained throughout (old stains). No title-page; starts with Latin Dedication leaf. Sold with all faults (w.a.f.). Early editions of Andrewes are scarce,. Edited by William Laud and John Buckeridge. (iv), 1,008, (iv), 128 pages. CONTENTS: "Sermons of the Nativitie, preached vpon Christmasse Day","Sermons preached vpon Ash-wednesday", "Sermons preached in Lent", "Sermons preached vpon Good-Friday", "Sermons of the Resurrection preached on Easter-day", "Sermons of the sending the Holy Ghost, preached vpon VVhit-Sunday", "Sermons of the Govvries conspiracie, preached vpon the fift of August", and "Sermons of the Gun-pouder-treason, preached vpon the fift of November" each have a divisional title page; pagination and register are continuous. "Certaine sermons preached at sundry times, upon severall occasions" has a divisional t.p. and begins a new sequence of pagination. Last sermon is 'A Sermon Preached on Coronation-Day'.
