Ross], 1773. vi, [12], 311 [i.e. 310]pp. With a list of subscribers. p.297 misnumbered 269, p.307 misnumbered 298, and pp.308-310 are misnumbered 309-311. Contemporary calf-backed marbled boards, contrasting red morocco lettering-piece, gilt. Extremities worn, corners bumped. Short closed horizontal tear to tile page, occasional chipping to margins. Later inked ownership inscriptions of Mariah Lewis and John Lewis to FEP and front blank fly-leaf, near contemporary ownership inscriptions and pen-trials of John Thomas to FFEP, title page, and verso of final leaf. A rare survival of the first edition of a Welsh translation of a collection of precepts derived from the Old and New Testaments, based upon Bishop of Chester and theologian Francis Gastrell's (1662- 1725) Christian Institutes (1707). ESTC records copies at just two locations in the British Isles (BL and Oxford), and one further in North America (Harvard). ESTC T116291.. First edition. 12mo.
