About This Item

London: George G Harrap & Co Ltd, 1952. A lot of tears and creasing to edges of unclipped dustwrappe, with the bottom two inches missing at the spine, also a lot of wear to the folds. Minor bumping to spine ends and corners of blue boards, some fading to gilt titles on spine, some yellowing to the pages, but otherwise a not too bad, clean tight copy of this hard-cover book. Deals with events of April-July 1949 in China when the Royal Navy sloop HMS Amethyst was trapped by Communist troops on the Yangtse for almost three months before managing to escape downriver. Originally published in 1950, this is a slightly later, smaller-format edition from 1952. 160pp, 2 maps.. Hard Cover. Good/Fair. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall.
