About This Item
1977 October 18, 1977. Single game ticket. Inscribed by Reggie Jackson in blue marker: "Reggie Jackson / Mr. October / 73-77 / World Series MVP." Original white ticket, printed in red and blue, with $10.00 seat price. Fine. Overall, a pristine example, inscribed by Jackson on a ticket to the very game that earned him the nickname Mr. October. In the 1977 World Series, the New York Yankees defeated the LA Dodgers in six games, avenging their World Series loss to the Cincinnati Reds the previous year. When Reggie Jackson came to the Yankees at the beginning of the 1977 season, he made the confident and prophetic statement, "I didn't come to New York to be a star, I brought my star with me." In Game 6 of the '77 World Series, Jackson earned his nickname, Mr. October, by hitting three consecutive home runs off of first pitches and carrying the team to victory. He won the World Series MVP award, as well as the Babe Ruth Award for his postseason performance. Jackson also won World Series MVP in 1973 (hence the 73-77 ticket inscription) playing for the Oakland Athletics. In his incredible career, Jackson won five World Series titles, AL MVP (1973), and was selected for fourteen All-Star games.. Signed. Fine.
