Harrap, 1920. 4to, 128pp. Light green cloth decoratively stamped in gilt. Green endpapers; 12 color plates, 12 b&w plates and numerous b&w illustrations. Spine ends and corners slightly rubbed, spine a tad sunned, slight rubbing to spine edges, free endpapers slightly discolored, bearing previous owner's name at top of front free endpaper; else an internally clean, bright copy.
First edition. A collection of early 20th century poetry for younger readers by such poets as Walter de la Mare, Rupert Brooke, G.K. Chesterton, Rose Fyleman, Thomas Hardy, Robert Graves, John Masefield, Harold Monro, James Stephens, and W.B. Yeats. All their work is brilliantly captured in stunning watercolor and black and white illustrations by celebrated Irish illustrator Harry Clarke. A gorgeously illustrated book!
