(London, Collins, [New Naturalist Monograph No. 4], 1950). 8vo; original green cloth; no dustwrapper; bookplate of ornithologist Peter Steyn on front pastedown; gift inscription on front free endpaper; the scientific name of the Yellow Wagtail penned on half-title page, and one or two discreet pencilled annotations elsewhere; pp. xiv + 178, incl. appendices, bibliography and index; 8 colour plates of paintings by Edward Bradbury, 4 black-and-white plates, plus line drawings and maps. Some moderate foxing to endpapers and prelims. Good condition. This is New Naturalist Monograph No. 4 and the first devoted to a single bird species. .
