About This Item

New York: The World Press Company, 1967., 1967.. Very good. - Quarto [approximately 11 inches high by 8-1/8 inches wide], softcover bound in pictorial rust brown wraps with a black-and-white caricature of Yevtushenko by David Levine on the front cover. The spine is rubbed & the adjacent edges of the wraps are slightly faded. There is a mailing label on the rear cover. 59 & [5] pages with an order form bound in. Black-and-white illustrations, including a reproduction of the Yevtushenko caricature accompanying the poems. The bottom page corners are slightly bumped. Very good.

Pages 21-25 are devoted to the two Yevtushenko poems, "Italian Tears" and "Impressions of the Western Cinema", translated from Novy Mir and Ogonyok, Moscow by George Reavey. The magazine comments: "The spellbinding platform antics of Yevgeny Yevtushenko on his recent cross-country tour of the United States have made him the most popular reader of poetry since the late Dylan Thomas. Here ATLAS presents the young Russian's latest two poems. One is sad and lyrical, the other harshly satiric; both express the poet's highly sophisticated feelings toward the West."
