About This Item
New York: Brewer and Warren Inc.. Good. (c.1930). First Edition. Hardcover. (no dust jacket) [moderately worn copy, ffep removed with consequent weakening of front hinge, tiny piece torn out of upper corner of half-title page, some fading to spine cloth, light soiling to page edges]. Novel about the efforts of a young French wife (the Charly of the title) to find fulfillment within (or outside) her marriage to a much older man. The author, a young cousin of Marcel Proust, wrote a number of biographies and at least one political book ("Young Europe," published in 1932), but this was apparently her only novel. .
