About This Item

New York: The John Day Company, 1929. First American Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good+ binding/Very Good dust jacket. The First American Edition of the novel adapted from Van Druten's play of the same name (1925). The play was initially banned in London as it portrayed a schoolboy in love with the headmaster's wife and that we too much for the Lord Chamberlain's office. Naturally when the ban was lifted it enjoyed a most successful run. A nice binding, with no marks of any kind, in a dustjacket which has moderate shelfwear, and a piece missing from the top of the rear panel. The dustjacket is not price-clipped and is protected with a new mylar cover. Very Good+ binding / Very Good dust jacket.
