About This Item
Cleveland, OH: World Publishing, 1962. First Edition, First Thus . Hardcover. Near Fine/Near Fine. Stated First Edition. Text/BRAND NEW & Bright; upper text edge dyed blue. Embossed, illustrated orange linen boards/NF. DJ/NF w/lights rubs, faint creasings & short closed tears to edges (primarily to upper/lower spine edges). Collection of essays (including coverage of the Eichmann trial) penned by journalist Harry Golden (1902 - 1981), born Herschel Goldhirsch in Ukraine-Hungary. The title, "you're entitle'", was the favorite phrase of Golden's immigrant father who never did learn to enunciate the last "d" ... as such, it is an uninhibited, exuberant expression of one celebrating freedom found in America. A stockbroker until the 1929 crash and punished for mail fraud (received full pardon from President Nixon) Golden impressively re-invented himself by moving from New York to Charolotte, North Carolina to experience life as "a Jew among gentiles and an integrationist among white supremacists." Observations of an energetic man with a keen eye, empathy, wit, and, above all, one who tempers serious concerns with humor.
