English translation of the 1566 manuscript, Relacion de las Cosas de Yucan. First published 1937 with hand tinted illustrations; this is a Dover reprint. Memoir of Diego de Landa and Auto de fe of July 1562 at Mani, where, besides some 5000 "idols", he burned 27 Mayan hieroglyphic rolls "as works of the devil" in his effort to facilitate Christianization of the natives.
