About This Item
Volume 6 of Collected Works. Edited by G. E. M. Anscombe and G. H. von Wright. Volume, measuring approximately 6" x 9.25", is bound in black cloth, with stamped gilt lettering to spine. Book shows very light shelfwear. Binding is firm. Interior is clean and without markings. Dust jacket shows faint water markings to spine panel small tears at bottom edge of the same. Parallel text in German and English title-pages and texts, with separate pagination. vi/124/vi/124 pages.
"Wittgenstein left a box of slips ("Zettel") cut from copies of the very extensive typescripts which he also left, comprising work from 1929 to 1948, though mostly belonging to 1945-48. The box also contained similar manuscript material apparently specially written to go with some of the typescript cuttings. Examination of these papers showed that he did detailed work to improve these remarks in their cut-up form. It can be conjectured that he preserved them in this way for incorporation into some future work. Since they received such special attention and separate preservation, and make a distinctive contribution to his later thought, they are here presented in an arrangement according to subject matter."
