About This Item

Oxford: Basil Blackwell,, 1967. First edition, first printing, with parallel English and German text, the translation by his student and British analytic philosopher Gertrude Elizabeth Margaret Anscombe. Throughout his career, Wittgenstein collected paper clippings of his work, sometimes from copies of transcripts that no longer survive. He did not, however, "merely keep these fragments, but worked on them, altered and polished them in their cut-up condition" (preface), indicating perhaps that they were part of a larger future project that was never completed. Octavo. Original dark grey cloth, spine lettered in gilt. With dust jacket. An excellent copy in a crisp dust jacket. Shanker & Shanker PI.
