Although there is an updated version, this comprehensive volume is a great resource to teachers interested in improving their craft by better and accurately assessing student mastery of subject and identifying student needs.

Great discussion of the Jewish immigrant experience. Explains in detail the rise of Abraham Cahan and the largest Yiddish newspaper, The Daily Jewish Forward. It is a good history of the rise of labor forces from the garment industry.

This is a fascinating study of psychosis that manifested in a background of the Jewish suburban community. It is a study of the emerging social turmoil of the 1960's and one wonders about the effects of unrequited love and the effects of possible latent homosexuality in the development of a child that grows up to be a driven killer.

This is a collection of scholarly articles about the first century historian Flavius Josephus. What was very helpful is Louis Feldman's introductory survey of the articles in the volume. He includes critical comments about each article; he has a breathtaking knowledge of Josephus. This book and its companion volume Josephus, The Bible and History provide a profound understanding of the ancient historian. Anyone interested in studying Josephus should include these volumes.
