About This Item
The Detective Book Club produced volumes of three crime novels from 1942 to 1999. Originally monthly, near the end they dwindled down to just a few per year. Many famous detective and crime novelists had their early works featured in DBC editions. Often, books were published in DBC editions before, or at the same time as they were published in mass market form. A little about our authors:
Lillian O'Donnell: O'Donnell created three detective series, the longest running being the Nora Mulcahaney series, with 17 books. O'Donnell published about 35 books over a 35 year career. Thisis the third of foiur in the Gwen Ramadge series.
P. C. Doherty: Some writers find one muse and stick to it. Sue Grafton wrote about little else than her Kinsey Milhone character. Agatha Christie had a small party of sleuths. P. C. Doherty has 14 series (including one just started in 2018) under seven different pen names. He has published upwards of 120 different novels and has had stories appear in other people's collections as well. The novel presented here is the first in a historical mystery series entitled Canterbury Tales of Mystery and Murder.
Kathy Hogan Trocheck: Trocheck is a writer of mysteries under this name and romance novels under the pen name of Mary Kay Andrews. She has created two mystery series, the Callahan Garrity series of eight books and the Truman Kicklighter series of just two books. She has also published 17 other novels of crime and suspense and three collections of short stories. This is the fourth Callahan Garrity novel.
