Bartolus de Saxoferrato (1313-1357) was an Italian lawyer and professor of law at Perugia, one of the most prominent jurists of Medieval Roman Law. Chief among postglossators, or commentators, a group of norther nItalian jurists who wrote on the Roman civil law. He was already famous at his lifetime and later regarded the greatest jurist after the renaissance of Roman law.
Giovanni d'Andrea (ca. 1270-1348) was an Italian expert in canon law, the most renowned and successful canonist of the later Middle Ages.
