TO 7 P.M., (for) United States Government, Office of War Information (Overseas), Hollywood, Calif., U.S.A., N. Y. Radio Program Bureau, French Hollywood Unit, typescript manuscript heavily annotated with text and programming editing by director Gerald Kean with pencil signatures of cast including Adolphe Menjou (Nick) and Michele Morgan (Nora) with respective Social Security numbers if applicable for payment by the U. S. government for their parts in the OWI radio play, bound in legal size manila folder with two brass clips at left edges of pages, 8-1/2" x 11", 36 page script plus front matter of pages of notes, title page, cast, and page with cast signatures for 42 pages total, set in New York City with detective Nick Charles (Adolphe Menjou) and wife Nora (Michele Morgan), the plot follows generally that of the movie "After the Thin Man" starring William Powell and Myrna Loy…notes on a front page name William Powell and Mryna Loy for the roles of Nick Charles and wife Nora, along with the actors who ended up playing these lead roles, namely Adolph Menjou and Michele Morgan…at the time the OWI was developing "Nick, Gentleman Detective (After the Thin Man), Robert Riskin was chief of the OWI Overseas Motion Picture Bureau which he had created, and also at this time, 1944, was finishing his script "The Thin Man Goes Home" made into a movie in 1945 after he left OWI, undoubtedly Riskin had some involvement in the production of the OWI French radio play, though as chief of the OWI division producing the play (see Notes) he kept in the background; NOTES: the noted screenwriter Robert Riskin, 1897-1955, undoubtedly hand a hand in the creation of this WWII Office of War Information "Thin Man" script and production, "[Riskin] joined the Office of War Information in 1942, where he organized the OWI's overseas division…Riskin returned to Hollywood in 1945, with the screenplay for 'The Thin Man Goes Home' " (wikipedia); the script for "The Thin Man Goes Home" had been completed in 1944 when Riskin was chief of the OWI Overseas Motion Picture Bureau he had created; Riskin biographical notes: "1941—adviser to British government on film as propaganda; then worked with the Office of War Information: created the Overseas Motion Picture Bureau, and served as its chief, 1942–45" (Film Reference Forum, Internet) ///// CONDITION: working script in very good-plus condition, light normal wear from handling, loss at bottom of spine of the manila folder and front of spine pulled away from the brass clips.
