About This Item

Vanguard Press, 1957. 1st Edition. Hardcover. VG++. 1st Edition. 13.4 x 21 cm black cloth backed decorative paper covered boards with titles in red to the front and in silver to the spine. Photographic endpapers [viii]182 [6] with three photographic images taken from the original production. The book is signed and inscribed by the writers on the front free endpaper, "To Geoffrey -/ The best of all/ the Beaus!With/ affectionate admiration/ from the happy/ playwrights/ Jerome Lawrence/ Robert E Lee/ opening night/ London/ 10 September/ 1958. Slight toning to the boards and a little light rubbing to the corners. There is a tiny paint dot on the cloth on the front spine edge. Internally the book is clean and bright with just the author's inscription on the front free endpaper. The Geoffrey of the inscription is undoubtedly Geoffrey Toone who played Beauregard in the first English production of the play at the Adelphi Theatre which opened on 10 September 1958. A lovely association copy. Rainford & Parris Books welcomes enquiries, so please do not hesitate to ask if you require further images or have any questions. All books are packaged with great care.
