Salt Lake City: Brigham H. Young, Printer, 1852. 258pp. Duodecimo [19 cm] 3/4 brown leather over marbled boards. Title gilt stamped on the backstrip. Marbled endsheets and pastedowns. Better than very good. Bookplate on the front pastedown. This is the first printed volume of Utah territorial laws. With Brigham Young as governor and the Legislative Assembly totally Mormon, the laws passed were in accordance to church values. Probate courts were very important. "The Laws of the first Legislative Assembly of Utah can be had by the civil officers of Great Salt Lake County, by calling at the Secretary's office. Members and officers of the Assembly will be further notified as fast as the books are bound." - Deseret News (9/4/1852). Flake/Draper 9384c. Crawley 714. McMurtrie 15.
