One of 525 numbered copies on handmade paper, out of a total edition of 533 copies, signed by the illustrator, this being number 423. Quarto (10 x 7 inches; 252 x 178 mm). 312, [2] pp. With engraved title and eleven engraved plates, including tail-piece. Decorative woodcut initials.

Original full vellum by Leighton-Straker. Covers double ruled and decoratively stamped in gilt with grape corner motifs and a fox central device. Spine stamped and lettered in gilt. Top edge gilt, others uncut. Marbled endpapers. Very minimal offsetting from the plates. Small bookseller's ticket on front pastedown. A near fine copy. In the original marbled board slipcase with printed paper label on spine, with matching limitation number. Slipcase slightly worn and toned.

"The Seventh Corrected Edition of the original text, printed in 1724, has been faithfully followed" (Colophon).
