Wedgwood with a preface by A. C. Haddon. This work was written by anthropologist A. Bernard Deacon. Deacon carried out fieldwork in the islands of Ambrym (now known as Vanuatu) and Malekula. All of Deacons fieldwork was edited by Camilla Wedgewood, including this work, after his death in 1927. This ethnographical study describes the island of Malekula, the second largest island in the nation of Vanuatu formerly known as New Hebrides.
