Handsomely rebound in full deep burgundy morocco with ornate gilt and blind-tooled decorations on the spine; marbled endpapers (some dampstains and marginal tears; scattered foxing and age-toning). London: William Du-Gard, 1653, 1651. First editions. Rare.<br/> <br/> An exhaustive appeal, supported by a wealth of documents, against permitting exportation of bullion from the Commonwealth Mint. Violet was a London goldsmith and alderman who was convicted of smuggling silver bullion in 1634 but was pardoned on condition of exposing other malefactors. STC Wing V593.
