Rijke, Pieter Leonhard, Baron (1812-1901). A.L.s. to an unidentified correspondent, probably Latimer Clark. Leiden, August 13, 1865. 3pp. 214 x 137 mm. Remains of mounting present. Provenance: Latimer Clark.

Rijke published several memoirs on electricity in the Philosophical Magazine. His letter concerns several pieces of scientific equipment that he wanted his correspondent to send him, including lenses and cells made from rock salt. He mentions that he had previously obtained rock salt lenses from Ruhmkorff. Origins of Cyberspace 185.
