Description: Title page illustration and chapter headpieces by Israel Doskow. This book is much in the style of the author's most acclaimed book, Tarka the Otter. (That book won the Hawthornden Prize in 1928.) This is a true to nature fictional account of a hybrid pheasant during the years 1937 through 1944. Chee-kai is a pheasant in Norfolk.
